It's basically what would've been if it was 2D and came out exclusively on a Japanese 8-bit computer instead of a console most of the world actually owned.
Konami would later include this and in most re-releases of Metal Gear Solid 3 with a full English localization, but at the expense of the original likeness-infringing character portraits. This was a name tag likely intended for 'Maniac Cop', a scrapped enemy character mentioned in the liner notes for the official soundtrack., he would've been encountered on the first floor of Zanzibar Building, most likely after the first boss battle, since this name tag is stored right after Black Color's ( D5), but before Running Man's ( D7).OffsetTextTranslation0x67483へいしSoldierAnother unused name tag, obviously intended for enemy soldiers. The enemy soldiers in the game have a few lines of dialogue, but none of them ever use this name tag. It's assigned to the byte variable DD.OffsetTextTranslation0x67317ワイヤーWireThis appears among text strings used for weapon pickups between the lighter and the silencer. Wires were likely intended placed traps similarly to land mines and plastic explosives.
There are wired traps in certain areas of the final game (such as the spiral staircase chase and the final escape sequence), but they're used exclusively as obstacles against the player.TranscriptTranslationサーチライトは動きをよみとり,タイミングをはかってモノカゲからモノカゲへすばやくイドウしろ・・・OVERSearchlights can expose where you're going.Measure their timing and move quicklyfrom one cover to the next.OverThis is located at offset 0x61834. Searchlights were intended to be used by the enemy in the very first area of the game (similarly to the ones present on the heliport in the original Metal Gear Solid).TranscriptTranslationおじちゃん,スネークさん?・・わたし,キャリー。パパはつりにいっちゃったの。Mister, are you Snake? It's me, Carrie.Daddy went fishing.大ジョウブ・・・ムセンキ,もっていったから。シュウハスウは140・99・・こんどあそびにきてね。バーイBut it's alright. He took the codec with him.The number is 140.99.Come and play with me next time. The character of Carrie (キャリー) was most likely Master Miller's daughter, Catherine (キャサリー), who is mentioned in the game's manual. This conversation would've likely been used for a frequency number change, similarly to the ones Campbell and Holly go through, but Miller sticks with the same number throughout the final game.Sound TestEquip the cigarettes and then go to the radio screen. Set the frequency to 140.07 and the game will play a random music track.
Change to another frequency and then switch back to 140.07 to play a different track.Debug ModeMetal Gear 2 has an extensive debug feature that's been made inaccessible in the retail version. The only way to unlock it is by opening the ROM image with a hex editor and changing the value placed at offset 7F801 to a 0, which will remove the instruction preventing its access. This can also be done on an actual MSX2 with a MegaRAM cartridge containing the ROM, although the procedure is a bit different. Go to page 3F of the ROM and change the value placed at position B801 to a 0.
Writes 'In a surprise news conference this evening, Nintendo unexpectedly revealed for the Nintendo Wii, and released. Brawl will feature online play; a Nintendog item that by jumping up on the screen and demanding to be petted; bizarre superattacks; your choice of traditional Gamecube or motion-sensing Revmote control; and in the form of Samus (without the suit), Meta Knight, Kid Icarus (!),. Konami's Solid Snake, complete with a cardboard box he hides in. The only bad news is despite earlier reports it would be a launch title, Smash Bros. Brawl will not be out until 2007.' Japanese fans are currently being asked to submit their desired characters and themes to Nintendo's website, the most popular of which will be incorporated into the game.
It is currently unknown if this will eventually be opened for overseas fans as well. The site where you can smashbros.com (Japanese only I guess) and the ign.com on it.The XBox 360 had a mild welcome in Japan. Is Nintendo playing favorites in order to win a solid monopoly on the Japanese market?Maybe I'm just jealous. I want to vote for Bub & Bob ( wikipedia.org) as a counter pair to fight those damned Ice Climbers! I definitely agree with Sonic.
As someone mentioned below, we could finally settle the 8/16 bit mascot grudge for good.Bonk is another good choice. Pac man is a little more questionable. Without any limbs, it severely limits the possible attacks ha can do. Seriously, how many ways could one character eat another? Same goes for Q-bert. His only original move is the hop, and touching anything killed him, I just don't see him as a brawler.Megaman, though, would be a lot of fun. While his arm cannon may make him too much like Samus, it would be great to give him a dozen or so 'stolen' weapons to work with as well.

The following is taken from the article at IGN.ign.comUnder the direction of series creator Masahiro Sakurai, Super Smash Bros. Brawl will feature classic, GameCube-style combat - not Wii-style motion-controlled combat. That means players who prefer to play the game with the traditional control setup can look forward to using the GameCube control-style they're already accustomed to.' We found that trying to implement too much motion-sensory functionality can get in the way of the game. We're looking at keeping the control simple, as it has been,' said Sakurai. 'The Wii hardware has sockets for the GameCube controller, too. So I'll just say now that you may not want to throw away your GCN controller yet.'
